Contrary to rumors, the new Deus Ex game will have a field-of-view slider on PC

What’s that saying — time flies when you’re playing video games? Something like that. As it’s November already, we’re swiftly approaching that February 23 release date for Edios Montreal’s Deux Ex: Mankind Divided and, as soon as the holidays pass, it’ll be here before you know it. And while early previews (like our own) suggest the game looks promising, some skeptics have taken to Twitter their concerns with the PC version in particular.

As a result of a rumor recently found circulating the web, some eager fans were led to believe the game would ship on PC without a field of view, or FOV, slider. Instead, it was a popular theory that, like Turtle Rock Studios’ Evolve before it, Mankind Divided would divide its audience by adding the slider later in order to get the game out sooner, despite the missing pieces. If you don’t see what the big deal is, this Quake video shows it off relatively well.

Fortunately, the misconception has been negated, thanks to game director Jean-François Dugas who, when asked if the rumors about the lack of an FOV slider were true, simply responded, “PC version will have it.”

This comes only a couple of weeks after revealing the Human Revolution sequel would be locked at 30 frames per second on consoles, while PC gamers will presumably be able to take advantage of whatever frame rates their rigs can handle. Nonetheless, the technical aspects are just a small part of what makes a game good. We’ll see come February if the action RPG is worth your time and money, though judging by previous entries in the series, it probably is.
