Did you know that in Star Wars Legends, the original Mandalorian culture didn’t come from humans? It came from a species called the Taungs, who fought against the human population of Coruscant. They were eventually driven from the planet and seven thousand years before the Battle of Yavin they began conquering other worlds, led by their leader, Mandalore the First. They named themselves after their leader and became Mandalorians. Over the next three thousand years or so they continued to spread and other species came to join their culture. And that’s how Mandalorians became a creed instead of a people, at least in the Legends continuity.
