This One Shot in Star Wars Andor is Important –

There has been a lot of talk about this shot in Andor, of the door closing on Bix’s torture and the camera pan down to a pair of boots walking away. It’s an exact match to the moment in the original Star Wars where the door closes on Princess Leia’s torture. That alone is a cool little bit of connectivity. But I also think it is going to retroactively make that scene in A New Hope much more impactful moving forward. Because we know Leia was tortured. We know it’s terrible. We can even read about what she went through in books. But the way Bix’s torture was described and built up. Seeing the horror on her face and the terrible after effects. I think it was a conscious decision to match those two shots so that the next time we see A New Hope, we will be even more horrified when we think about what’s going on behind that closed door.
