Since my other post about the Betrayers’ Rise maps was received so kindly, I felt encouraged to share what I did for the Emerald Grotto. Unlike the BR maps, I didn’t make each area its own separate map, but rather just cut everything out so it could be shown following whichever path the players chose. Additionally, I added an exit in the shark cavern. I know it’s supposed to be completely filled with water but I adjusted the description so there was a bit of air at that end and the exit was only visible once the elders opened it after the emerald eye was retrieved. This fit my changes to the narration better. The map is slightly scaled from the original size (if you compare it against the D&D beyond version) to 100 pixels per square. Also, I made the hidden caves and the exits in E5 and E9 “hidden” in case you feel like your players should work for it a little. Otherwise, just have them displayed the whole time if you feel seeing those parts will encourage them to do some sleuthing. Location and depth labels are included as separate files if you’d prefer (like I did) to place them on the GM layer so they’re not visible to the players. You can find all the files here. Below are some examples of how the paths can be displayed. Enjoy! Taking the southern fork at E3 submitted by /u/ipshing to r/CalloftheNetherdeep |
