there has got to be a better system out there for determining map pools/GAs then what we currently have. – March 16, 2023 at 06:40AM

I mean we all see the clear bias of teams trying to remove their worst map and keeping their best right?

There is no way Slasher is trying to remove Hydro when it honestly has been one of the best hardpoint maps in the game even if you dislike the water. For example, half of fortress hardpoint is not great, half the hills is a spawn trap/ unbreakable, think p1, think p5 if you get the right set up, and p3 reminds me of p2 hackney yard. Compare that too hydro where there is no spawn trap, spawns matter, actually has good pacing and is enjoyable to watch think Optic vs Boston at major 2 where it was just back and forth.

If himlett is a better/ more competitive map in all three modes it should be added, we should not be content with the current map pool just cause it is okay. If there is a better map that is more competitive and more enjoyable it should be added. But that comes down to the system we have where pro players have a clear bias and reason to keep a map set out of the rotation. Hypothetically speaking the last thing optic would want is one of their best hardpoint maps removed when they could get one of their worst ones removed.

We need a new system and I am not sure what it should be, maybe have the league decide its own map pool? Allow pros to scrim it and someone at the league collects the analytics and determine if it should be added? Maybe add it to ranked play for a week and have the community test it out and come to the conclusion on if it works? I have no idea what should be done but it is clear to see it is not working with fortress control lasting 4 months. I mean pros did not even try to find a replacement until it got so bad that the crowd was booing the map when it got played at the major.
