Today’s episode features Caleb Denison, Drew Prindle, Dan Gaul, Matt Smith & Greg Nibler. As usual, the show aired live on Periscope and covers a little bit of everything.
We started off talking about the Ring Video Doorbell. Is the advantage of being able to see who is at your door before you answer it worth the cost?
Next, we cover the developments of Google Glass 2.0. The marketing appears to be towards “professionals,” but will the new design be enough to overcome the bad publicity version 1.0 received? Also, Microsoft Hololens finally revealed a teaser video of the application in action. It has a smaller view, but the tech behind it is still really exciting.
From Augmented Reality, to Actual(?) Reality, we cover a research group working on GHOST (Generic Highly-Organic Shape-Changing Interfaces). It’s essentially malleable display screens that you can touch and feel, to go along with the content you’re viewing.
We then discuss the creepiness of Google Deep Dream and the nightmares that it can instill in you. Trust us … it’s pretty creepy.
Finally, we talk about NASA’s potential plan to terraform the Moon. Is the advancement of this kind of technology a good thing?
