Telltale throws Game of Thrones stars into ‘A Nest of Vipers’ next week

Developer Telltale Games revealed that the latest episode in its ongoing Game of Thrones adventure game series will premiere next week for consoles and PC platforms.

Titled “A Nest of Vipers,” the penultimate fifth episode of Telltale’s series splits its starring characters across a number of potentially deadly situations. Asher is embroiled in a pit fight, while Mira must deal with the aftermath of her talks with Cersei.

The newly launched trailer above pinpoints a launch date for the latest episode of Game of Thrones, as Telltale previously assigned the chapter a nebulous “later this month” release window.

“A Nest of Vipers” will launch on July 21 for Windows and Mac platforms, with a PlayStation 4 and PS3 release debuting after a PlayStation Store update that evening. Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners can download the new episode on July 22, while iOS and Android editions are set to premiere on July 23.

Telltale Games is known for its numerous episodic adventure game franchises, including a pair of series based on the comic anthologies The Walking Dead and Fables. Telltale’s Game of Thrones builds on events established in George R. R. Martin’s novels and HBO’s television adaptation with a string of interactive stories, driven by player choices. The game has featured actors from HBO’s series, such as Lena Headey and Natalie Dormer.

Game of Thrones runs concurrently alongside Telltale’s Tales from the Borderlands, a similar adventure game series inspired by Gearbox’s first-person shooter franchise. The latest episode of Tales from the Borderlands, titled “Catch a Ride,” hit digital distribution platforms last month.

Telltale is also developing a narrative-driven story mode for Mojang’s Minecraft. A release date for the planned expansion has not been announced.

Telltale’s six-episode season of Game of Thrones is available digitally via Steam, Xbox Live Arcade, and the PlayStation Network for $30.
