Trends with Benefits: The next iPhone and IFA Berlin are right around the corner

Apple is set to unveil the iPhone 6s in San Francisco on September 9. While iPhone users are naturally excited for a new phone with improved features, we also speculate about what else the company could announce. HomeKit home automation is definitely getting hotter, and there is a good chance we could see some developments there. Matt Smith also fills us in on the possibility of some new MacBook announcements.

Of course, before Tim Cook so much as steps foot on stage in San Francisco, we’re going to Germany! IFA, the European equivalent of CES, takes place September 4 through 9 in Berlin, and Digital Trends will have an entire team there. In addition to sampling some fine Oktoberfest brews, we’re looking forward to trying some new tech, including Samsung’s Gear S2 smartwatch. Malarie Gokey fills us in on why it’s exciting, and how it’s running on Samsung’s proprietary Tizen OS.

Caleb Denison fills us in on what to expect with both Ultra HD Blu-ray’s and 4K OLED TV’s, plus advancements in wearable fitness tech he’s looking forward to. This is a burgeoning market, with a lot of potential for some cool new products and the innovation.

Finally, one of the biggest things to see at IFA is the advancement in the smart home and interconnected household devices and appliances. Home editor Jenny McGrath looks forward to some fascinating products from overseas, plus discusses the vulnerabilities of Samsung refrigerators.

Today’s episode features Caleb Denison, Jenny McGrath, Matt Smith, Malarie Gokey and Greg Nibler. We also broadcast live on Periscope taking your questions throughout the show!
