Halo 5: Guardians just released this past Tuesday, but Microsoft’s other big Xbox-exclusive (at least through 2015), Rise of the Tomb Raider, is out in less than two weeks. To celebrate, as is by now a tradition, the game has received a launch trailer, and it shows off plenty of tomb raiding and daring escapes, as well as a familiar face.
“When I was young, it was just my father and I,” Lara Croft narrates with infuriatingly incorrect grammar. “In his last years he was obsessed with myths about immortality.”
While most of the pre-release footage for the game has taken us to snowy Siberia, it appears that Croft will also be taking a trip to Syria to finish what her father started. It’s here that she visits a few of the tombs that the developers have shown off in behind-the-scenes videos.

The first game in the rebooted Tomb Raider series featured several incredible, cinematic escapes from crumbling buildings and landscapes, and it looks like these are coming back in a big way in Rise of the Tomb Raider, with Lara sprinting out of a flooding building before hiding behind a wall as water shoots past her.
It’s after this escape that Lara makes her way to Siberia in search of “the divine source,” and she’s joined by Jonah, one of her allies from the original game. It looks like her ice pick will come in handy in the sequel even more so than it did in the original, as she’ll be scaling plenty of frozen mountains, and her aerial attack on an unsuspecting enemy suggests she may have received some training from a certain brotherhood — probably not.
Rise of the Tomb Raider launches on November 10 for both Xbox One and Xbox 36o, with a PC release following early next year. Though the game was touted as an Xbox exclusive at this year’s E3, the game will eventually be making its way to PlayStation 4, as well.
