If you’re a Livestream user, you may want to reset your password ASAP. In an email to its more than 10,000 active customers (and 300,000 total users), the company admitted to a possible hack, noting that an “unauthorized person may have accessed our customer account database.” This database contains information including names, email addresses, passwords (albeit an encrypted version), and more alarmingly, phone numbers and dates of birth. While this information alone may not seem like the holy grail of personal data, hackers often use this basic knowledge to then access other accounts.
“While we are still investigating the full scope of the incident, it is possible that some of your account information may have been accessed,” the company email read. Livestream is far from the first company this year (or even this week) to admit to a hack, with companies across industries falling victim to these cyberattacks.

The video streaming platform did not retain credit card or payment information in its databases, which should come as something of a relief to its users. Still, they wrote in their email, “in an abundance of caution, we are requiring all users to reset their passwords.”
If you’re one of the customers affected, you can head over to this page where you’ll be able to select a new password. While Livestream has not provided any further information at this time, an investigation is ongoing to uncover the details of the potential security breach.
