Chilling Orphan Black season 4 teaser trailer goes down the rabbit hole

BBC America is getting fans ready for season 4 of Orphan Black. The network has released an eerie new teaser trailer for the sci-fi series’ return, and it looks like there are plenty of thrills and chills ahead.

That life will continue to be complicated for Sarah Manning (played by Tatiana Maslany) is clear in the preview. The character is heard speaking lines from Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, but her spin on it doesn’t sound anything like a children’s book. In fact, the words become downright chilling as we see a masked figure, flames, and footage of horrible past incidents involving her clones Cosima, Helena, and Alison.

“Burning with curiosity, she ran across the field and down a large rabbit hole, never once considering how in the world she would get out again,” says Sarah. The words describing Alice’s journey parallel Sarah’s quest for the truth about her clones over the past three seasons. “The only way forward is to go back,” she says at the end, presumably hinting at what’s to come over the course of season 4.

Like the teaser released in late December, the new preview only offers limited new footage, making it nearly impossible to guess at what viewers can expect. BBC America seems to be enjoying the tease, posting a fitting tweet to announce the release of the teaser trailer.
