Canadian hip-hop sensation Drake has announced that he will join forces with Southern rapper Future for a massive North American tour this summer that the pair are somewhat unoriginally calling the Summer Sixteen Tour.
The string of live shows, which is actually named after a single from Drake’s upcoming fourth studio album Views From the 6, will take place between July 20 and September 17 of this year.

This will not be the first time that the two rappers, who collaborated on popular mixtape What a Time to Be Alive last year, have hit the road together. In 2013, they teamed for the very successful Would You Like A Tour?
Still, it is surprising that they would join forces for a tour again — not because they don’t put on one heck of a co-bill, but because their stars are shining brighter than ever three years after their first trip together.
In 2016, either one of the rappers could likely sell out an venue without the other’s help. But the new set of shows does present an exciting opportunity for fans of contemporary hip-hop, and will likely see a serious amount of social media buzz when it commences.

Buzz appears to be what Drake is going for this week; In addition to announcing his new string of shows on the road, Drake shared the album cover for Views From the 6 this weekend — a wide shot of Toronto’s CN tower with a little, tiny Drake perched atop it. The rapper has been focusing a lot on on the hometown crowd this year, having launched a Toronto-wide social media campaign for the new record during the NBA’s All-Star Weekend in February.

Views will be an Apple Music exclusive when it drops this Friday, and will likely shoot to the top spot on the charts given how successful its predecessor, the mixtape called If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, was when it dropped in 2015.
