Need more Star Wars in your life? Electronic Arts has you covered for the foreseeable future.
As part of the EA Play press conference before E3, the presentation included a montage of virtually every studio under the publisher’s aegis around the world working on some Star Wars game or other. Jade Raymond, formerly of Ubisoft Montreal and now leading EA’s Motive Studios, helmed the affair. In addition to more content from extant EA Star Wars games (Battlefront, The Old Republic, and Galaxy of Heroes), the presentation also heralded three new titles in the works
First, Raymond’s Motive Studios is working with DICE on Battlefront II, which will arrive in 2017. “We’re building on the foundation of the first game,” Raymond said on stage. “We’re listening to our players and adding more of what you want, including content from the new films.” Raymond’s extensive experience with the Assassin’s Creed franchise for Ubisoft hopefully points towards a robust single-player mode, which the previous game was sorely lacking. This is Motive’s first project since it was founded in 2015.
Then in 2018, Dead Space studio Visceral Games will release an action-adventure game set in the Star Wars universe with an entirely original narrative and new characters. Former Uncharted scribe Amy Hennig is working on the project, with franchise help from Lucasfilm designer and artist Doug Chiang, who served as design director for Episodes I and II and created concept art for The Force Awakens.

Finally, Titanfall studio Respawn Entertainment is “exploring a different Star Wars era in their own third-person action-adventure games.” Details were scarce, though the Respawn section of the montage does include footage of a light saber motion capture session.
The video also features a brief glimpse of someone wearing a PlayStation VR headset, seated in what appears to be the cockpit of an X-Wing. EA announced earlier this year that Burnout studio Criterion Games is working with DICE on a PSVR-exclusive Battlefront mission, which is set to release later this year.
