Special Lamborghini Aventador celebrates 50 years of mid-engine supercars

The Lamborghini Miura’s 50th birthday bash is far from over. After organizing the first-ever Miura Tour and re-creating the opening scene from The Italian Job, Lamborghini has introduced a limited-edition version of the Aventador dubbed Miura Homage Edition.

The Homage Edition wears a two-tone paint job that harks back to the Miura, the Italian marque’s first-ever mid-engine supercar. Lamborghini’s Ad Personam studio re-created six of the most iconic colors offered on the Miura, including a red known as rosso arancio Miura (pictured), a green dubbed verde scandal, and a blue listed as blu tahiti. The alloy wheels are available in either flat silver or gold.

Other commemorative extras include special Miura 50 emblems right in front of the rear wheel arches, a black Lamborghini logo out back, embroidered seats, and a metal plaque engraved with each car’s serial number. The plaque is visible through the front quarter window on the driver’s side of the car.

Lamborghini hasn’t made any major mechanical modifications to the Miura Homage Edition, but you could argue that none were needed. Power is provided by a stock, Aventador-sourced naturally aspirated V12 engine tuned to generate 700 horsepower at a screaming 8,250 rpm and 508 pound-feet of torque at 5,500 rpm. The Aventador goes from zero to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 217 mph.

Only 50 examples of the Lamborghini Aventador Miura Homage Edition will be built, and a majority of the production run has already been spoken for by collectors who were secretly shown the car. Lamborghini hasn’t revealed how much of a premium it carries over the standard Aventador, which starts at approximately $400,000. Interested?
