LG launched a Japan-only waterproof V34 phone with a 5.2-inch display

Wish you could get the LG V20 but with a slightly smaller display and waterproofing features? Well, it looks like you might be able to — if you live in Japan. LG announced the LG V34 Isai Beat will be released exclusively in Japan.

The device is basically a mini V20 with waterproofing and while it does not have tons of new features over the original V20, the fact that it is an even better version of an already stellar phone is cool enough to make us wish we could try one out.

Apart from that, the Isai Beat really is not very different — it keeps the V20’s always-on secondary display, as well the dual camera on the back. Despite the fact the display is slightly smaller than the original V20, it manages to keep the same relatively large 3,000mAh battery. And, as mentioned, it is water-resistant with a rating of IP67, which means that it can be submerged in as much as one meter of water for up to 30 minutes. You will not want to take it swimming, but if you happen to drop it in the bath, the device should be just fine.

It also boasts a few Japan-specific connectivity radios — things like WiMax 2+. Of course, it does not do that at the expense of LTE — both regular LTE and VoLTE can be found on the device too.

The V34 Isai Beat will be available in both titanium and gold colors and if you live in Japan, you will be able to get your hands on one starting in mid-November. It is not yet known exactly how much the device will cost.

There is some silver lining for those that live outside Japan — LG is obviously thinking about waterproofing, so perhaps a future LG phone, like the V30, will include the feature. Only time will tell.
