Press Releases: Secretary of State Tillerson Welcomes 48 International Women Leaders in STEM to the United States

Notice to the Press

Office of the Spokesperson

Washington, DC

October 11, 2017

U.S. Secretary of State Rex W. Tillerson will welcome the 2017 “Hidden No More” exchange program participants at 1:25 p.m. on October 12, at the U.S. Department of State.

Beginning this week, 48 women leaders in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) are in the United States for the Hidden No More exchange program. This International Visitor Leadership Program was inspired by screenings of the award-winning film Hidden Figures at more than 100 U.S. Embassies and Consulates worldwide as part of the American Film Showcase program. Participants are “hidden talent” in their home countries who will spend the next three weeks networking with professional counterparts and exploring policies that champion the interests of women in STEM in cities across the United States. Hidden No More aims to highlight and develop the important contribution of women and girls in STEM.

Pre-set time for cameras is 12:45 p.m. from the 21st street entrance. Final access time for writers and stills is 1:15 p.m. from the 21st Street entrance.

Media representatives may attend the Secretary’s remarks upon presentation of one of the following: (1) A U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification card (driver's license, passport).

For more information, please contact ECA-Press@state.gov. Join the conversations online at #HiddenNoMore.
