Qatar has expressed “reservations” over the hawkish approach that Gulf states including Saudi Arabia have adopted towards Iran, underlining divisions in the region over how to deal with the Islamic republic. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatari foreign minister, told the Al Jazeera network late on Sunday that a series of Saudi-convened summits over the weekend had “adopted Washington’s policy towards Iran”, without “taking the neighbourhood into consideration”.
