Blue Sea Boom: Multiple Powerful Naval Weapons Loaded and Unleashed

Blue Sea Boom: Multiple Powerful Naval Weapons Loaded and Unleashed –

Latest U.S. Navy News/Training Ops footage from the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group operating on the Atlantic Ocean: Sailors aboard the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Vella Gulf (CG 72) loaded and shot multiple weapons including a MK 45 5-inch gun, a Phalanx close-in weapon system (CIWS), a .50-caliber machine gun and .240 machine gun as part of a routine training exercise.

USS Vella Gulf is named after a famous battle from the Solomon Islands campaign of the Pacific Theater of WW2. Commissioned 18 September 1993, Vella Gulf is an extremely versatile vessel, capable of sustained combat operations in Anti-Surface, Anti-Air, Anti-Submarine, and Strike warfare contexts. With a top speed of nearly 40 mph, the ship’s very fitting motto is: “Move Swiftly, Strike Vigorously”
