36,000 Pounds Of External Lift Capacity: Super Stallion Helicopters In Heavy Lift Action 2020 –

These enormously powerful Sikorsky CH-53E Super Stallion helicopters operate with three T64 turboshaft engines producing a combined total of over 13,000 shaft horsepower of lifting capacity.

This particular ‘sling load’ training event, which took place on February 6th at Fort Carson, Colorado, involved Marines and aircraft assigned to HMH-366, Marine Aircraft Group 29, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing as well as Soldiers and M777 Howitzers assigned to 2nd Battalion, 77th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division.
