Dual Axis Motion System!

large_preview_TV_Motion_Control.png

Our goal in the design of this was to create a multi-purpose motion control platform based upon GRBL and gcode using 3D printed and off the shelf parts. As we wanted to avoid the need to write C# code for Arduino by using the simpler concepts of Gcode to make this system more accessible to the masses.

Also the idea is to use geared steppers for both their torque as well as holding power for heaver loads such as DSLR’s or satellite antennas for Amateur Radio use. As the mountings are designed to connect to a standard 20×40 v-slot on either the top or side of the rail (see part list below).

With this there is an azimuth mount which connects to the 20×40 V-Slot and the the elevation braket mounts to the azimuth via an 8mm rod guide with is drilled and tapped with an M3 one side to engage with the flat side of the D-shaft from the steeper. In addition the mounting holes of the rod guides where also tapped to receive 1/4-20 hex head bolts for mounting all of the pieces together. There is a thrust bearing (wash) which in between the azimuth and elevation connection with a 1/4 inch multi-hole base for the elvation. We have also included all of the Fusion 360 files too.
