Face Mask

large_preview_Model_1.jpg

Summary

Face Mask – Nose and Mouth

NOTE This mask is NOT FDA approved for medical use. If you have approved PPE. please use that first. This mask should only be used after.

This is a remix/refactoring of the original Face Mask (v1) by lafactoria3d (https://www.thingiverse.com/lafactoria3d) The mask has been changed for better breathability, added spacing for filter placement, support for filter material, modified cap fittament to mask, thicker walls in some areas, reinforced some sections, increased thickness of cap, re-anchored strap attachment points, etc.

DOES NOT INCLUDE FILTER MATERIAL – The space between the mask and cap (.7 mm) allows for varying thickness of material while still providing a seal. Glue stick, outline spacer, silicone bead, etc. are all possibilities if you feel the need. None of these suggestions are proven in a “hood test”.

Using PLA to print, you are able to heat the edges of the mask in near boiling water (190 F) to soften the plastic. When you take it out,

you will only have a few seconds before it stiffens again so it may take a few tries. Using hotter water or a heat gun would work, but then

it would most likely be to hot to place on your face. DO NOT heat about 350 F as the plastic will start to melt.

Use 1/2″ elastic straps (you can cut down wider elastic if smaller is not available, corded elastic is easier to cut straight lines with)

(attachment holes are smaller than 1/2″ but elastic will fit through, wider straps feel better on the face and head)

*Please read the “3D Face Mask” document included for more information.
