It was announced in late 2019 that there were plans for Electronic Arts to begin releasing games on Steam after almost a decade. Additionally, EA will also be making its subscription service, EA Access, available on Valve’s distribution service, though it was originally planned for spring.

The Steam storefront recently featured a banner, telling gamers to expect to see EA Access made available soon and providing assurances that there will be “exclusive trials, great games, and more!” It is thought that the service will launch some time this summer. Several EA games are already being sold through Steam, such as Dragon Age: Inquisition, Dragon Age II, Need for Speed: Rivals and more.

EA parted ways with Steam in 2011 in order to launch Origin Access, a PC gaming subscription service. It is currently unknown how the launch of EA Access will affect Origin Access, which offers early access to a full games and DLC, among other exclusive benefits. It has been speculated that both services will remain open and available.

The original EA press release from 2019 explained that EA games such as The Sims 4 and Unravel Two — the latter of which was recently released — would be released on Steam over the course of the next year. Steam and Origin users would also be able to enjoy the multiplayer modes on titles such as Apex Legends, FIFA 20, and Battlefield V.
