1 damage away from legend – August 20, 2022 at 09:17PM

Okay, I will try to not write a usual rant post, but I really need to vent somewhere.

I have been playing HS for years now with a few paises here and there. The farthest I have ever got on the ladder was diamond 1. I consistantly reach that rank, and then I just get stuck. A few minutes ago, I was playing my last game to get to legend. I played Skeleton Mage against a ramp druid. It was a long and exciting match, I truly enjoyed it. They eventually managed to pull off the Kael’thas – Brann – Sire combo, to which I lost.

Never mind, I won my next game and was playing for legend again. Against a ramp druid again. Similar game structure, nothing surprising. They had 17 HP left. Combining everything I got – nothing on board, but a buffed Dawngrasp hero power and a couple Frostbites in hand – I could deal 16 damage to them. And then, of course, Kael’thas – Brann – Sire, dead from almost full HP.

Now, I don’t complain about druid being too strong or Denathrius being unbalanced. Maybe yes, maybe not, hard to tell. I don’t even say that this OTK is unjust because it’s hard to pull off. But I had to write out this because yeah, I am a bit salty now. I am always so close to legend and just can’t seem to take the final step.

Then I made the mistake of trying to push again, now I fell back to diamond 2. So frustrating. Rant over by the way, so….have you ever faced a similar issue? What helped you breach the gate of legend rank? Thanks for the answers and for reading.
