Rachel Mondl Named Chief of Staff for the U.S. Department of Labor
WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced Rachel Mondl as the new Chief of Staff.

“Rachel is an outstanding public servant with a tremendous dedication to helping America’s workers,” U.S. Secretary of Labor Eugene Scalia said. “Rachel will play a key role in the Department’s efforts to help America’s workforce gain access to good, family-sustaining career opportunities.”

Currently the Deputy Solicitor at the Department, Ms. Mondl previously served as a professional staff member and counsel to the House Education and Workforce Committee under Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC). In that role, she worked on a wide array of labor and employment policy issues, including non-discrimination, pensions, wage and hour, workplace safety, and labor relations. She has also served as in-house counsel to the Smithsonian Institution, where she focused on employment litigation and counseling.

Prior to government service, Ms. Mondl worked for a number of years as an associate in private practice, focusing on labor and employment and appellate matters.

Ms. Mondl earned her B.M., summa cum laude, from Vanderbilt University and her J.D., with honors, from Emory University School of Law. While in law school, she served as editor-in-chief of the Emory Law Journal. She also clerked for the Honorable Frank Hull, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
