Do you know why Ben Solo had a calligraphy set on his bedside table in The Last Jedi? This is still fan speculation, but writer and director Rian Johnson gave some creative insight to Claudia Gray, the author of the Star Wars novel, Bloodline. That story is all about Leia and her days in the New Republic senate six or so years before The Force Awakens. In it, she is warned of an assassination attempt thanks to a handwritten note, a rare sight in the Star Wars galaxy. So it’s likely her son knew of the plot and discretely saved his mother’s life.
