Theodore Tugboat

Hi folks.

I am in the midst of building a Graupner first generation Bernhard Gruben, and making the recovery system functional. As you can well understand, this is a head hurting and frustrating endeavor at times. So… I decided to work on a silly little nothing of a project at the same time to clear the cobwebs and have fun. The president of my boat club gave me a great deal in a small fiberglass tugboat hull, so….

Theodore Tugboat! For those of you who do not recognize the reference, Theodore Tugboat is the star of a Canadian maritime based kid’s show. The hull is not right- it has a pointed bow instead of a round bow like Theodore, but kids will not know the difference. I am far from finished, but thought I would post some of my build to give you all a chuckle… Most of my build is based on pictures of Theodore Two, and Halifax based tugboat built to look exactly like the star of the kid’s show. Sorry for the red hat- it is covered in glazing putty to remove 3D printing striation, then I need to rework the bill and add piping like Theodore has.

Here is a vid of the eyes’ movement- gotta have that working!

eye test, Theodore Tugboat build (0 min 31 sec)

Anyway, hope it is ok to post in Dock Talk- did not seem to fit in any other category. Comments are always welcome, but be gentle- it is meant to entertain children at our club events, not win awards for exact detailing.
